Even though Hangover director Todd Phillips desperately wanted Mel to be in the sequel, it seems the cast wasn’t too thrilled with his idea!
Mel Gibson was supposed to play a tattoo artist in The Hangover II, but that’s not going to happen. Even though Todd Phillips, the director of The Hangover was totally Team Mel, he didn’t have the entire cast and crew on board with him.Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures, the film companies backing the sequel, released a statement on behalf of Todd: ”I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of Jeff Robinov and his team. But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew.”
It seems Mel’s crazy anti-semitic rants, and his recent troubles with ex-partner Oksana Grigorieva aren’t being taken too lightly in Hollywood. Maybe Mel will just have to go back to directing his own flicks, because then he can cast himself.
